General - in another post by you that I read, you said that you didn't support the war, but you whole-heartedly supported our troops.
As a Vietnam Vet, I personnaly couldn't ask for more - only that you support our soldiers, and give them the respect due to them for putting their lives on the line in support of your right to dissent.
When I came back from Vietnam I was treated with contempt for my beliefs, and like a Pariah for being a Vet - and the memory will never leave me. Our Soldiers deserve more than the Vietnam Vets got - and I appreciate your willingness to subborn your dissent in support of our Soldiers.

General, you have every right to the opinions you've expressed - freedom of speech. Hey, I'm sure some of what I may say ruffles some feathers, but as long as people are not personally eviscerated over their opinions, no harm and no foul. You may not agree with mine, and I may not agree with yours, but freedom of speech is exactly that, and anyone who cannot tolerate it, tough shit.
So go ahead and post - if people cannot stand it, that's their problem. However, as people do cross a line from time to time with respect to personal attacks and sometimes spew stuff that is WAY OVER simple political disagreement (oh, for example, saying they hoped a baby would be disemboweled or something equally disgusting), we all should be mindful of that kind of problem.
p.s. Listen, I've got a few Scuds for sale - cheap, not that I actually have them yet, you know, but I've got a coupla deals in the works - I could let you have them at a good discount off the market price.

First of all you don`t owe an apolgy to anyone! You along w/every American has a right to dissent, actually I believe it`s an obligation. Sadly one that the Democratic leadership is to lilly livered to express. And that the RW doesn`t want to hear. Having said that, I`ve made my views known. But as also said here. now is the time to rally around "our guys"! I too am a Vet and don`t want to see one drop of American blood shed. You ARE NOT WRONG General. Let`s all pray for a quick resolution to this mess. If you`ve lost some respect because people disagree w/your views, their respect wasn`t worth a damn in the first place. Friendship is unconditional!!

general......you never heard that from me.....your opinion is worth every bit as much as any dissenting view...and contrary to what you may think,i have grave reservations about invading and occupying a foreign country....i suspect the aftermath may turn out to be a mess,possibly much worse than the israeli/palestinian situation.....but,i was just saying that i think i understand the reasoning behind having to take some sort of action...to finally do something to avoid having to revisit this same situation every 5 to 10 years....and possibly avoiding a future catastrophe....i do now(as i have previously) ,respect you and your opinions...our ability to discuss and disagree without repercussions is one of the main reasons our country is admired,envied,resented and hated in the iraqs and n.korea`s of the world....g.l.
